New FCC Chairman: DTV Deadlines Unrealistic
Shortly after he was named the new FCC Chairman yesterday
by President Bush, Michael Powell hit the ground running at an industry
conference in Las Vegas. Powell, a Republican, wouldn't say he supports
a change in the 2002 or 2006 deadlines for DTV implementation, which
many broadcasters have complained about for years, but he did suggest
the digital TV schedule might not be realistic. more
