Laird Capdiv Direct DV Recorder
Is that a disk recorder in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?

The holy grail of tapeless DV is here with Laird's Capdiv DV disk recorder ($1295). Plug it into your DV camcorder and it acts just like a little VTR, recording everything your DV tape does, and arranging it on its 40GB disk in separate clips. Then when you get back to your edit bay, it can act like either a VTR or a hard disk, able to store three hours of DV footage. It's a great system, but it's not flawless. Let's take a look.

Macromedia Flash MX 2004 - First Look
Macromedia has taken Flash to new levels that none ever imagined when it was just a cool tooning tool

With this new release, Flash has yet gone into another new direction. Some of it very good, some of it very questionable. The biggest change is that Flash has essentially split into two. Much Photoshop begat Photoshop Elements and Final Cut Pro begat Final Cut Express, Macromedia has decided to try a somewhat similar route. Offer a lite product for those who just want to use the tool for motion graphics, simple interactivity and the ability to add audio and video. Then offer a full-featured product with the ability to connect to Web Services, XML documents, live video and a ton of other new interactive features.
