Video Gear and the Not-So-Friendly Skies....
Flying from exotic to location can be FUN! Especially when the location is exotic. Until it's time to get ON the plane.

New restrictions from the newly and still infant TSA, or "Transportation Safety Administration" that fall under the new Homeland Security Administration has brought new concerns for videographers, grips, musicians, lighting and sound personnel that no one could have dreamed possible a year ago. Hopefully this short article will help make some travel endeavors less painful.

Premiere Pro a Slam Dunk
Adobe challenges Apple with Mac-free NLE

The 90-pound weakling of nonlinear editing, Adobe Premiere, has just been entirely re-written, turning it into a muscle-bound bully into whose face competitors would be foolish to kick sand. Emerging from a two-year-long metamorphosis is Premiere Pro, a brand new iteration of one of the granddaddies of digital video editing. The best news is, the age-old editor managed to retain just about everything you might have liked about it, while adding so many new pro-level enhancements that it becomes obvious once you dig deep into it there was one specific target in the minds of those at the reins of its development effort: Apple and its popular video editor, Final Cut Pro.

DMN Interview Part 1: Talking About Premiere Pro
Adobe Premiere Pro Group Product Manager Richard Townhill explains why Premiere is now Premiere Pro

In this candid interview with DMN's Charlie White at DV Expo in New York, Adobe Premiere Group Product Manager Richard Townhill talks about the company's upcoming nonlinear editing application, Premiere Pro. In development for nearly three years, the application has been completely re-written. It's clear that the application was meant to directly compete with Apple's Final Cut Pro. In part one, Townhill compares Premiere Pro with Final Cut Pro, and tells about the new features in this entirely new editing application.
