What formats do TV stations use to send and receive content?
In TrendWatch's Winter 2003 TV/Broadcast survey, the researchers polled television and cable stations, asking which video formats they receive, send, and work with internally. Here's an excerpt of the company's findings.
Routing-switcher options expand as footprints decrease
Space-challenged producers, take note: A number of new routing switchers and router releases—many of them released in the past few months—are aiming to take the bulk out of your production setups.
Shipping version impressive
If you read Charlie White's "First Look" at Pinnacle Edition 5, published three months ago (March, 2003) here on Digital Media Net, you'll recall that he was impressed with the nonlinear editing software's new real time improvements and interoperability with graphics cards. Edition 5 is now shipping, and White's impression of the product is even better now than it was before.
New 64-bit chip brings Mac models to 2.0 GHz
Apple has unveiled the highly anticipated Power Macintosh G5, a new series of workstations built around the IBM PowerPC 970 chip. The new line offers a revamped system architecture, incorporating several hardware enhancements (including PCI-X, AGP 8x and vastly expanded bandwidth) and will be available in configurations ranging from a single 1.6 GHz model to a dual 2.0 GHz model. All of the new G5s are expected to ship in August.
