Who Shot This !@%#$@?
Communicate with shooters so you won't be saying this during your edit sessions

If you've been editing video for a while, or even for a few minutes, you can vouch for the truth of that old saying, "garbage in/garbage out" (GIGO). If the footage isn't there, you could be in store for an edit session that could be characterized as The Day From Hell. In this editorial/tutorial, let's take a look at ways to avoid this dreaded situation.

Making a Music Video in Vegas

Music videos revolutionized the music industry in the early 80’s with the explosion of MTV and VH-1 making their broad stroke on the cable scene. Most large-arena bands such as Quiet Riot, Poison, and even Yanni made their careers entirely based on the quality and visuals that accompanied their music. The latest system, the 700XL is the company's top of the line system, targeted at the budding digital filmmaker.

Move Over, Ken Burns: StageTools MovingPicture Tops Imaginate

If you're looking to add a professional touch to a sequence of stills, it's easier to do than ever. A few weeks ago, I reviewed a fine application by Canopus called Imaginate, which does a great job of executing all kinds of camera moves on high resolution stills. StageTools MovingPicture version 4.4 even tops that. I took a look at the stand-alone MovingPicture Producer ($199, $69 for the rotation option), and one of the numerous plug-ins of the same application, this one for Adobe Premiere, and was quite pleased with the results.
