Matrox RT.X100, Canopus DVStorm2, Pinnacle Pro-ONE RTDV face off
By popular demand, here's the first published shootout between the three hottest DV products on the market today, the RT.X100 from Matrox, DVStorm2 Plus from Canopus and Pinnacle's Pro-ONE RTDV. New version free for current users
Pinnacle Systems has released an update to CineWave, the company's non-linear editing system for Macintosh. Version 3.0 offers support for Mac OS X 10.2.3 and has been certified by Apple for use with Final Cut Pro 3.0.4. The OS X version is a free update for current users.
Cinematography, Digital Intermediates Are Important Topics at Confab
A day of sessions with the American Society of Cinematographers and International Cinematographers Guild, a series of papers on D-Cinema and digital intermediates, a D-Cinema screening and a host of developing technologies and techniques for the Hollywood filmmaker all made the 144th SMPTE Technical Conference and Exhibition (held last month in Pasadena) an important stop.
Directors Bureau, A52 Create Theatrical Ad
Interest in high definition and 2k work in the commercial arena has been limited, but the teams at The Directors Bureau and visual effects and design company A52 recently had the opportunity to examine some new high-resolution production techniques for Arnold Worldwide's new 2003, Beetle Convertible ad campaign for Volkswagen of America. The first of two spots in the campaign is a :60 entitled "Bubble — Teaser," which is currently airing as a theatrical release and on television. "Bubble," the follow up spot, is scheduled to debut this month. Both ads were produced in 2k.
