An in-depth interview with Mark Chiolis of Thomson Grass Valley
Thomson Grass Valley is planning to release its new entry into the digital film camera race, called Viper FilmStream, by the end of this month (August, 2002). Digital Media Net's Charlie White talked with the man in charge of marketing the Viper project, Mark Chiolis, Marketing Manager, Acquisition and Production Markets, at Thompson Grass Valley. Chiolis has worked with companies like BTS, Philips and Thompson since 1992, and prior to that he was a production manager at a television station in northern California. In this extensive interview, Chiolis gives us a detailed look at the camera that many think represents the next step in the evolution of a viable digital cinema capture system.
Former FAST Studio DV gets a new name, logo, not much else
When Pinnacle bought FAST Multimedia about a year ago, it brought in a wealth of intellectual property from the ailing German electronics company. Among these trophies was the software that served as a front end to FAST's formidable stable of digital video editing hardware, called, in its various iterations, FAST Studio. Now, Pinnacle has just re-released one of these variations, which was previously called Fast Studio DV. Now it's called Pinnacle Edition DV. Let's take a close-up look.

AdvantEdge plugin includes video correction filter
Ultimatte has released AdvantEdge, a professional bluescreen extraction tool for Mac, Windows, Irix and Linux. The software works as a plugin with a variety of video and graphics packages, including systems from Adobe, Apple, Avid and Discreet. It also includes video correction filtering for DV footage.
Adobe Photoshop is by far the most indispensable application in a digital artist's toolbox, regardless if the art is being created for print, multimedia, the web, digital video, or film. The application, which was recently revved to version 7 is easily the most powerful version yet, offering a new degree of sophistication and ease of use that makes it easier for those less inclined to create nice graphics for a variety of projects.
