New compression software blasts onto the scene with innovative new features Canopus has released ProCoder, a Windows software application that can take almost any video file and compress it into almost any other type of video file. But that's not all. It can take lots of different types of video files and turn them into lots of other types of video files, too -- all at the same time. And some, well, they're just fun and we wanted you to know about them. ![]() Plugin effects for Adobe After Effects What stands out in my mind about The Foundry's products to date is not so much the variety of the tools (though there is plenty of variety) but the quality. The Foundry is, above all, a developer dedicated to the professional video industry, and their effects plugins reflect this not only in terms of the tools they choose to develop, but also in terms of functionality and, maybe more importantly, the final result. Project is life work of director John Marshall da vinci Systems, Inc. today announced that Boston-based post-production house Finish has used its new da vinci 2K Plus system to complete color correction on a documentary recording more than half a century in the life of one extended family in Southwest Africa (now Namibia). Colorists at Finish used the 2K Plus real-time image processor for the final color enhancements on the documentary project, which began in 1950 and concluded in 2001 with more than a million feet of film and thousands of hours of video.
