Congress Draws Line in Sand For DTV Controversy
House Commerce Committee chairman sets September deadline for agreement on copy protection

Citing continuing delays in the implementation of Digital TV, the chairman of the House Commerce Committee set a September deadline for the entertainment and computer industries to agree on how to deliver DTV while protecting content from unauthorized distribution over the Internet. Reps. W.J. "Billy" Tauzin (R-La.), the committee chairman, and John Dingell (D-Mich.), the committee's ranking democrat, said they will settle the controversy in Congress if the industries can't come to some sort of agreement.

Kona SD Bridges DV to SDI
Version 2.0 drivers also get 64-bit codec, After Effects preview

Blackmagic Design and AJA Video Systems have released version 2.0 drivers for the Kona SD standard-definition video capture and editing board. The new version supports DV to uncompressed SDI output in real time, as well as several other functional enhancements. The drivers have also been updated to be compliant with the forthcoming Mac OS X 10.2 and are available now for free.
